Family Rosaceae. The genus includes 5 species, distributed in Europe, the northern regions of Asia, and North America.
These are low-growing creeping perennials that form dense mats. Leaves lobed (3-5 lobes). Flowers yellow or white.
Location: Waldsteinia grows in a semi-shaded to shaded, moderately warm spot. In sunny sites it scorches. The plant is winter-hardy and stable in cultivation. Under favorable conditions it spreads rapidly.
Soil: moist to moderately dry, loose, and rich in nutrients.
Care: water during dry weather. Mulch with organic substrate.
Propagation: by dividing rhizomes in spring or autumn, sometimes by seed.
