Family Asteraceae. Habitat - wet stony moraines, fine-stony screes at altitudes of 2400-3000 m above sea level. Regions: Siberia, Mountain Altai, Tuva, Kazakhstan - Southern Altai, Dzungaria, Central Asia - Pamir-Alay, Tian Shan, Mongolia (northern part), China - Kashgaria.

Subshrub up to 10 cm high, with numerous generative and vegetative shoots strongly branched at the base, forming loose mats. Leaves spatulate, up to 2 cm long and 1 cm wide, wedge-shaped narrowed at the base into a short winged petiole, at the apex 3(5)-lobed or divided. Involucres 1.2-2 cm in diameter and 4-6 mm high, glabrous. Ray florets pink, with the limb 8-14 mm long and up to 4 mm wide. Achenes without pappus up to 4 mm long and 0.8 mm wide, glabrous. Pappus of numerous (25-50) flattened, bristle-like scales up to 8-10 mm.

Cultivated on the shaded part of an alpine rock garden; the soil is prepared from a mixture of gravel and humus; regular watering is necessary during the growing season. Propagated by fresh-collected seeds or by careful division in early spring.
