Synonyms: Dunov, Miracle of Bulgaria, Dunav

Dunav grape – a hybrid of the varieties (Balkan x Ribi mehur) x Cardinal, an early-ripening table grape. Developed in Bulgaria. Vines are vigorous, shoots ripen well. Flowers are hermaphrodite.

Clusters are large, 400-600 g (1,5 kg), cylindric-conical in shape, of medium density, with excellent marketable appearance. Berries are large, weighing 15 g, dimensions 30.8 x 20.5 mm, elongated-oval, bright red in color, when overripe becoming red-violet, dark red or black. Flesh is crunchy, dense, with an excellent harmonious taste and a slight muscat aroma. Sugar content 16-21%, acidity 5-7 g/L. Fresh grapes receive high tasting scores (8.2 points). On the vine 50-770% of shoots are fruitful, fruiting coefficient 1.1-1.3. On a shoot 1.1-1.4 clusters form. Begins fruiting in the 2nd-3rd year. Yield is high, stable, 130-140 centners/ha.

Hardiness: buds in the eyes withstand down to -18 °C

Location: not demanding to soil, but grows better on light, sufficiently moist ground. Plant is drought-tolerant. Recommended for cultivation in the northern regions of Ukraine.

Planting and care: same as for cultivated grapevine.

Pruning: fruiting canes are recommended to be pruned to 8-10 buds, load per vine 35-40 shoots.

Diseases and pests: not resistant to fungal diseases.

Propagation: cuttings root very well.

Use: Fruits are consumed fresh, have good transportability and excellent marketable appearance. Recommended for cultivation in protected culture.
