Grape 'Charlie'

Origin: Viktoria x Nadezhda AZOS. Amateur selection. Breeder – E.G. Pavlovsky, Russia.
Grape Charlie – a hybrid table grape form of very early ripening. From budbreak to full ripening it takes 105-115 days. Matures in the second decade of August.
Shoots are vigorous, 1.5-2 m, the cane ripens along the full length of the shoot. More than 90% of shoots are fruitful.
Flowers are bisexual, pollination is even. Blooms in early June. Bunches are large, attractive, cylindro-conical, weighing 600-800 (1000-1500) g and 30-35 cm long, of medium density, without millerandage. Berries are oval, large, weighing 7-10 g, black in color. Flesh is dense, crunchy, of an excellent original taste with solanaceous notes, which almost completely disappear after full ripening. Skin is edible. Berries do not crack and are not affected by wasps.
Sugar content 17-19%, with acidity 6-8 g/L.
Yield is high and stable.
Hardiness zone: 6a (buds in the eyes withstand up to -24°C).
Location: not demanding on soil, but grows and fruits better on heavy soil.
Planting: same as for cultivated grapevine.
Care: responsive to phosphorus-potassium fertilizers
Pruning: prune canes to 6-8 buds. Optimal load 30-35 buds per vine.
Diseases and pests: Disease resistance – 3.0 points
Propagation: cuttings root very well.
Use: Fruits are consumed fresh and for processing; transportability is good.
