Obtained from: Talisman x (Cardinal + pollen mix). Amateur selection. Author – E.G. Pavlovsky, Novoshakhtinsk, Russia.
Grape 'Super Extra' – a complex hybrid form of table grape of very early ripening. From bud break to full ripeness it takes 95-105 (100-110) days. Bunches ripen by late July - early August.
Shoots are vigorous, the vine ripens well. Flowers are hermaphrodite. Pollinates well.
Bunches are attractive, large, conical, medium density, without berry shedding, weighing 370-505 (500-800) g. Berries are large, 7-9 g, 24.7 x 20.9 mm, elongated or slightly ovoid in shape, whitish-green, at full ripeness yellowish, similar to the berries of the variety Arkadia. The skin is thick, covered with a waxy bloom, practically unnoticeable when eaten. The flesh is meaty, juicy, crisp, of a simple harmonious flavor with a light muscat note. Practically not affected by wasps.
Sugar content on July 28, 2006 was 10.7 g/100 cm3 with acidity 5.6 g/dm3.
Hardiness zone: 6a (buds in the eyes withstand down to -24 °C). Covering for winter is recommended.
Site: not demanding to soil, but grows better on light, sufficiently moist ground. The plant is drought-resistant.
Planting and care: similar to that for cultivated grape vines.
Pruning: bushes are vigorous. Prone to crop overload. Prune fruiting canes to 6-8 buds. Plant load is 20-25 buds per bush.
Diseases and pests: Resistance to fungal diseases is high.
Propagation: cuttings root well.
Usage: Fruits are consumed fresh and used for processing, have good transportability and an excellent marketable appearance. A promising form for amateur grape growing.
