Obtained from: Strashensky x Timur – selection by V.V. Zagorulko, Ukraine.

Grape 'Sphinx' – a hybrid table grape variety of early ripening (100-105 days). Vines are vigorous. Leaves large, moderately lobed. Shoots ripen well. Flower is hermaphroditic, pollination proceeds well. In spring buds open late, which protects them from early frosts.

The cluster is large, cylindro-conical in shape, moderately compact, weighing 600-900 g (1.5 kg). Berries are ovoid or oval, dark blue, large, weighing 8-10 g, measuring 30 x 28 mm. Skin of medium thickness, not noticeable when eating. Flesh juicy, crisp, with a harmonious flavor and varietal aroma. Berries are practically not attacked by wasps.

Frost hardiness: buds in the eyes withstand down to -23 °C.

Location: not demanding of soil, but grows better on light, sufficiently moist ground. The plant is drought-resistant. Prefers sunny sites protected from strong winds.

Planting and care: similar to those for cultivated grapevine.

Pruning: Prune fruiting canes to 4-6 buds. Recommended pruning – 4-arm fan.

Diseases and pests: resistance to downy mildew 3-3.5 points, to powdery mildew – 2.5-3.0 points

Propagation: cuttings root well

Use: Fruits are consumed fresh, have good transportability and excellent marketable appearance. Recommended for protected cultivation.
