Grape 'Gift to Zaporizhzhia'
Vitis vinifera L.
Synonyms: FVC-3-3
(Kesha-1 x (V-70-90 + R-65))
Grape Gift to Zaporizhzhia – a hybrid form of table grape obtained by the Ukrainian OV "Vinogradnaya Elita" by E. A. Klyuchikov from synthetic crosses of forms with combined resistance. Ripening early-medium (120-130 days). Vigorous. Shoots ripen well. Fruit-bearing shoots 65-80%, number of clusters per fruiting shoot 1.5-1.8.
The flower is functionally female, but pollination occurs well, even in years unfavorable for flowering. Clusters are conical or cylindrical-conical, large, 600-900 g, from loose to compact. Berries are large, 10-12 g, size 33x25 mm, oval-nipple-shaped, green-white in color. Skin is firm. Flesh juicy, meaty, with a simple, unremarkable flavor. Sugar content 16-19%, acidity 5-6 g/l. Berries are uniform in size, clusters have an excellent commercial appearance. Tasting evaluation of fresh grapes. On chernozem soils, even at full ripeness the berries remain green. Keeps in a cellar until mid-November – early December. Yield is high, berries do not crack, are not heavily eaten by wasps, and remain on the vine for a long time. Prone to overcropping.
Ripens in mid-August, with overcropping – in early September.
Frost resistance: buds in the eyes withstand down to -24 °C
Site: not demanding on soil, but grows better on light, sufficiently moist ground. The plant is drought-tolerant. Recommended for cultivation in the northern regions of Ukraine.
Planting and care: same as for cultivated grape.
Pruning: fruiting canes are recommended to be pruned to 8-10 buds, load per bush 30-40 shoots. Bud fruitfulness at the base of shoots is high, so short pruning to 3-4 buds is possible.
Diseases and pests: disease resistance 2.5-3.0 points.
Propagation: rooting of cuttings is good
Usage: Fruits are consumed fresh, have good transportability and excellent commercial appearance. In economic and commercial characteristics and in reliability it surpasses many other varieties. Recommended for cultivation in protected (covered) culture.
