Grape Vodogray
Vitis vinifera L.
Grape Vodogray – a table grape variety of early-mid ripening. The vegetation period is 120-125 days. The variety is of Ukrainian breeding (Zaporizhzhia), obtained by V.V. Zagorulko by crossing the varieties Arkadiya and Kishmish Luchistyi. Vegetative shoots have a red-green color, crowns are light green, not pubescent. One-year shoots ripen well, almost along their entire length; ripened shoots acquire a light brown color. Leaves are medium in size, five-lobed, moderately dissected. Flower is bisexual.
Clusters are large, 800-1200 g, medium-loose, conical in shape, borne on a long peduncle. Berries are yellow-green, with a pink blush on almost the entire surface, nipple-shaped, reaching 8-10 g, 28-34 mm in length and 18-20 mm in width. Berry color depends on sun exposure - the sharp tips of the berries turn pink first. Skin is of medium thickness, practically not felt when eating. In rainy weather berries may crack. Flesh is juicy, meaty, with a muscat aroma. Sugar content 18-20%, with acidity 6-7 g/l. Yield is high and stable. Transportability of clusters is high.
Own-rooted plants have good vigor and are distinguished by a well-formed three-tier root system.
Hardiness zone: 5b (buds in the eyes withstand down to -21 °C)
Location: not demanding regarding soil, but grows better on light, sufficiently moist soil. The plant is drought-tolerant.
Planting: similar to that for cultivated grape.
Care: preventive treatment with fungicides is recommended – Ridomil, TILT-250. Responds well to increased doses of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers.
Pruning: when pruning it is recommended to leave 4-8 buds. Optimal load per vine 30-35 eyes.
Diseases and pests: resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew at the level of 3.5 - 4.0 points.
Propagation: cuttings root very well.
Use: Fruits are consumed fresh. Clusters have good transportability and excellent appearance. The variety is undemanding and disease-resistant, and also features high yield.
