Grape 'Aristocrat'

Grape 'Aristocrat' – an early-ripening grape variety. From budbreak to full maturity it takes 115-125 days. In the Kyiv region it ripens August 15-25.

Shoots are very vigorous. Canes ripen well, more than 2/3 of their length.

Flowers are hermaphrodite. It blooms in early June. It sets fruit well; berries in clusters are uniform.

The cluster is very large, conical in shape, of medium density, reaching 500-2000 g.

Berries are oval, large, 12-16 g, size 32x34 mm. Berry color – pink-purple, at full ripeness becoming red-purple. Skin of medium thickness, not noticeable when eating. Flesh of medium density, pleasant taste, not aromatic. Berries can remain on the plant for a long time without loss of taste. Sugar content reaches 17-20%, acidity – 7-8%.

Yield is high and stable - when planted at 2x3 m it gives more than 15 kg per plant. Prone to slight millerandage. Bud load 30-35, shoot load 22-24 with a feeding area of 4-6 m2.

Hardiness zone 6a (buds in the eyes withstand down to -24 °C)

Location: not demanding to soil, but grows better on light, sufficiently moist ground. Drought-resistant. Recommended for cultivation in the northern regions of Ukraine.

Planting and care: similar to those for cultivated grape

Pruning: long pruning of fruiting canes – 6-8 buds.

Diseases and pests: resistance to downy mildew at the level of 3.5 points. Resistance to powdery mildew – 3.0 points, resistance to phylloxera has not been studied, to gray rot – 3.5 points.

Propagation: cuttings root well

Uses: Fruits are consumed fresh, for drying and processing. Characterized by excellent dessert taste, high transportability and good commercial appearance.
