Vallisneria nana
Vallisneria nana
Family: Hydrocharitaceae. An attractive plant with dark-green narrow leaves. Especially suitable for both the midground and the background in small aquariums.
The leaves are much narrower than those of other members of the genus Vallisneria, but not as long. In its natural habitat — northern Australia — Vallisneria nana reaches only 15 centimeters in height, but in aquariums it grows to 30–50 cm — this is due to lighting and nutrient conditions, which are usually better in aquariums than in nature. Vallisneria nana produces many lateral shoots and, under good conditions, quickly develops into a compact clump.
