Family Valerianaceae. Found in the light mountain forests of Europe.

The plant reaches a height of 20–50 cm. The stem bears a small number of trifoliate leaves. Basal leaves are petiolate, large, ovate. Blooms in June–July with small pale-pink flowers arranged in dense inflorescences. Plant in a semi-shaded spot in soil composed of gravel and humus. During the growing season regular watering is necessary. Ensure drainage for the winter. Mountain valerian is good for group plantings in a flowerbed.
