Honeysuckle family. Northeastern and western regions of North America. In mountain forests, in semi-shaded locations.

A shrub up to 1.5 m tall. At 5 years height 1.3 m, crown diameter 100 cm; at 16 years height 2.0 m, crown diameter 150 cm. Growing season from early May to mid-October. Growth rate moderate. Begins flowering at 4 years of age, in the first half of June, for 7 days. Produces fruit from 5 years of age, annually; fruits ripen in September. Winter hardiness high. Seed viability 90%, germination 11%.
