Family: Honeysuckle. Native to North America. Found in bogs and wet shrub thickets.

This is a tall (3.5-5 m) densely branched shrub with smooth light-gray bark. Crown broadly spreading, 5.5 meters in diameter. Leaves bright green, unusually shaped, rounded, with deep straight veins, ending in large teeth along the entire leaf margin, 3-8 cm long. Flowers white, small, arranged in an inflorescence 6 cm in diameter. Blooms in June-July, in the wild in May-June. Fruits dark blue, small, 6-8 cm long, numerous, slightly bitter in taste, readily eaten by birds.
