Androsov's elm

Family Ulmaceae. A hybrid between the dense elm and the dwarf elm (U. densa Litw. x U. pumila L.), some authors consider it a form of the dwarf elm.

Tree up to 20 m high, with a very dense pyramidal crown. Bark of young shoots brownish-ashy or yellowish, on old branches - gray. Leaves ovate or broadly ovate, doubly serrate, broadly pointed at the apex, 5–6 cm long, on pubescent petioles up to 1 cm. Fruits - samarae up to 2.5 cm, angulate-rounded.

Winter-hardy, prefers fertile soils with moderate moisture. Grows quickly, drought-tolerant.

Very interesting for garden and park landscaping. In cultivation since 1934.
