Family Cupressaceae. Naturally found on the Pacific coast of North America. Lifespan up to 500 years. Height up to 60 m.

A large tree with a dense, pyramidal crown formed by short, horizontal branches slightly drooping at the tips. Twigs are arranged in two rows and lie in the same plane as the supporting shoot. Their upper side is glossy green; the underside has whitish stomatal bands. Foliage is arranged crosswise: on the main branches it is ovate, pointed, with glands; on the lateral twigs it is short, blunt and without glands. When crushed the foliage is fragrant. Cones are leathery.
