Family Telipteris. Occurs naturally in Siberia, the Far East, Asia Minor, northern China, Japan, and North America.

A low, long-rhizomed plant up to 15-50 cm tall, with fancifully ornamental, yellowish-green, twice-pinnate fronds that taper at the tips. Fronds are borne on thin, stiff petioles and die back for the winter. Rhizome creeping, branched. Ornamentally stable from spring (fronds emerge in late April - early May) until the first frosts. Rhizome growth - 5-6 cm per year. Spores mature in July-August.
