Drooping reed or graceful Isolepis
SCIRPUS cernus (Isolepis gracilis)
Family: Cyperaceae. Native range of Isolepis is East India. Also known as hair grass.
Perennial herbaceous small plant with long, delicate, threadlike leaves - stems. Grows in wet and marshy places. The isolepis clump consists of many densely fused individual tufts of leaves, at the ends of which small spikes are formed.
In summer during growth isolepis requires abundant daily watering. There should always be water in the saucer. Likes light but does not tolerate direct sunlight. Over time the clump spreads strongly, roots come out through the drainage hole, individual plants, especially in the middle of the clump, begin to yellow and die. Regular rejuvenation of the plant is necessary.

Isolepis is easily propagated by dividing the clump when repotting. From one plant you can obtain 5–7 new ones. Young plants root easily and quickly develop into a beautiful bright-green small clump.
A beautiful, graceful plant. Can be used in hanging baskets as a trailing plant, and also for decorating aquariums — the pot with the plant is immersed halfway in water.
