Scindapsus
Scindapsus
Aroid family. Native to Central and South America, Asia. Scindapsus grows quickly and is fairly undemanding in indoor conditions. The main requirements are a warm room, not too dry air, and periodic fertilizing. For Scindapsus it is convenient to use a moss pole as a support; the plant is wrapped around it and it grows upward.
Scindapsus pictus - A vine with leathery, ovate or ovate-lanceolate leaves about 10-15 cm long and 6-8 cm wide. The leaf blade has irregular bluish-white spots and blotches on the upper surface.
Scindapsus aureus - A vine with lanceolate or heart-shaped leaves and golden spots on them. It is a variety of Epipremnum pinnatum.
Temperature: Grows well in warm rooms at 18-20°C, and in winter not below 16°C.
Light: Bright, diffused light; must be shaded from direct sunlight, especially in summer. In winter it needs good illumination, otherwise the leaves begin to become smaller and lose color — so move Scindapsus closer to the window or provide supplemental lighting.
Watering: Should be regular, abundant in spring and summer, moderate in winter. The soil should not dry out or be too wet. Scindapsus does not tolerate excessive watering well; the roots begin to rot.
