Family Sparganiaceae. Distributed throughout almost all of Europe.

Has an unbranched stem; its floating form reaches 120 cm in length. The small bur-reed (S. minimum) is distinguished by flat leaves and a solitary male inflorescence, less vigorous than the erect bur-reed, stems are inclined in various directions, and the leaves float on the water surface. It reaches 25 cm in height, and in the floating form - 80 cm. It flowers a month earlier. S. neglectum is adorned with strongly branched inflorescences, in which there can be up to 3 female and up to 20 male heads. The plant is large - up to 120 cm in height.
