Honeysuckle family. Western North America. In mountain forests up to 2700 m above sea level.

A shrub up to 1.5 m tall. At 3 years: height 0.8 m, crown diameter up to 100 cm. Vegetation period from late April to late October. Growth rate medium. Begins flowering and fruiting at 3 years; annually, abundantly. Flowers from early July to late August, on average about 50 days; individual flowers last 10–14 days. Fruits ripen in September. Winter hardiness medium. Seed viability 80%, germination 15%.
