Fruit trees
Raspberry
Rubus L.
Family Rosaceae. There are three types of raspberry: traditional, large-fruited, remontant. Each type has many cultivars. Each cultivar has its own advantages and disadvantages. Traditional raspberry is the least demanding and the most winter-hardy. An annual harvest is guaranteed. Each fruiting cane has 1-2 orders of branching with 8-14 berries on each. Depending on the cultivar, berry weight ranges from 2.5-4 g. From one bush you can harvest from 1 to 3 kg of berries.
Large-fruited raspberries yield 4-5 or more kilograms of berries per bush. Such raspberries impress not only with berry size but also with their number. The fruiting shoots have 2-4 orders of branching, with 15-20, and sometimes even 30-40 berries on each. Another feature pleasing to gardeners is that the one-year-old shoots are very thick, firm and without thorns. Winter hardiness is high, thanks to the regionalization of cultivars. Resistance to major diseases and pests is on par with the best standard cultivars. Large-fruited berries are sweet, juicy, with a pronounced raspberry aroma.
