Family Ranunculaceae. Found on moist, non-turfed rocky-gravelly sites at elevations up to 4000 m above sea level. Siberia, northern Far East, North America.
Perennial plants. Stems 10-15 cm high, ascending, arc-shaped. Basal leaves twice ternately compound on long thin petioles, their blades almost round, 1-3 cm diam., divided into 3 lobes which are strongly narrowed at the base and cut to the middle or more into oblong segments. Flowers about 1 cm diam., 1-3 in number, on elongated sparsely-hairy flower stalks. Petals obovate-elliptic. Receptacle ovoid, with sparse hairs. Fruit heads almost spherical, about 5 mm diam. Blooms in late spring to early summer. Achenes about 2 mm diam., glabrous, with a short hooked beak.

Seeds are sown in autumn for overwintering, clumps are divided in early spring. During the growing period regular watering is necessary. A sunny location with well-drained gravelly soil.
