Acute sedge

Sedge family. Distributed in Europe and Central Asia. The stem, and especially the leaves, of the acute sedge are very rough; one can easily cut oneself on them. The leaf epidermis is impregnated with silica. Its tiniest particles give the sedge its cutting properties. It has bright green leaves and decorative inflorescences with cylindrical spikes that hang on long stalks. Height - from 50 to 150 cm.
