Pear 'Melting'

Pear 'Melting' – an early-winter pear cultivar. The tree is fast-growing, with a broad pyramidal crown of medium density. It blooms late; flower self-fertility is partial.
Fruits are of classic pear shape, large, up to 200 g. Ground color – green; at full maturity it becomes greenish-yellow or yellow; cover color – a light diffuse pink blush on the sun-exposed side of the fruit. Flesh is creamy, very juicy, buttery, with a mild aroma. Taste is excellent, rich, sweet with a slight acidity, harmonious. In a refrigerator the pears keep until January.
It begins fruiting early, in the 4th year after planting. Bears fruit annually and moderately.
Hardiness zone 6a.
Location: Not demanding in terms of soil, but grows better on light, sufficiently moist ground. The plant is drought-tolerant.
Pruning: Same as for the common pear
Pests and diseases: high resistance to scab
Use: Fruits are consumed fresh, for drying and processing. Distinguished by excellent dessert flavor, good transportability and long storage life.
