Milkweed family. Habitat: Africa.

The genus comprises only a few species. Stems are initially spherical, then elongate upward, covered with tubercles and resembling stones. Flowers small (up to 1 cm), brown.

Plants are difficult in cultivation. Prone to root rot, and can get sunburn in direct sunlight. They prefer bright light, moderate warmth and a well-drained substrate. Propagated by seeds.
