Flowers: after leaf emergence, upright, white, raceme-like inflorescences 10–15 cm long.
Fruits: reddish-black berries the size of peas, with a slightly bitter fruity flavor.
Leaves: late to emerge, ovate, glossy green, turning matte yellow in autumn.
Root system: deep, does not form suckers, sensitive to compaction, tolerates temporary flooding.
Requirements: sun/partial shade, prefers warmth, winter-hardy, suitable for urban conditions, wind-resistant.
Soils: from acidic to slightly alkaline, relatively dry or moist.
