Fruit trees

Cherry

Prunus L.

Back to catalogue

Family Rosaceae. Cherry is a perennial crop that grows as a tree or shrub.

Height 1.5-5 m. The above-ground part consists of one or several trunks and a crown. Depending on the fruiting type, all cherry varieties can be conditionally divided into two groups — bush-like (Vladimirskaya, Lyubskaya, Shchedraya, etc.) and tree-like (Zhukovskaya, Griot Moscow, Turgenevka, etc.). During their lifetime cherry trees go through three main periods: growth, fruiting and decline.

In each of these periods the length of branch growth depends primarily on the level of agricultural practices. To extend the fruiting period, it is necessary to maintain an optimal shoot growth length of 30-40 cm with good care of the plantings.
