Appearance: attractive, small shrub, 1.2-1.5 m tall and 1.5-2 m wide, upright growing, slow growth rate.

Flowers: single, light pink or white, at leaf emergence or afterwards, pleasant fragrance.

Fruits: dark red, edible, from late September.

Leaves: lanceolate or elliptic, dark red when unfolding, then ranging from copper-brown to dark red, retain a red tint, do not turn green.

Requirements: full sun only, tolerates high temperatures, prefers warmth, winter-hardy, tolerant of urban conditions, requires protection from wind.

Soils: relatively dry or moist, from acidic to alkaline, on any well-drained substrates, does not grow well on heavy soils, generally undemanding.
