Family Rosaceae. Native range: Eurasia and North America. Found on cliffs, screes, rocky slopes, pebble fields, alpine meadows, tundras.

Stems 3-30 cm tall, erect or semi-prostrate, like the petioles of the leaves, cobwebby-woolly. Basal leaves ternate, leaflets 0.5-3 cm long, 0.5-1.5(2) cm wide, toothed-incised, green above, more or less hairy, sometimes grayish-woolly, white-woolly beneath. Flowers 12-20 mm in diameter, on long pedicels. Calyx densely hairy, 1.5-2 times shorter than the corolla; outer oblong or narrowly linear sepals shorter than the broad-lanceolate inner ones. Achenes slightly wrinkled or smooth.
