Upright cinquefoil
Potentilla erecta (L.) Raeusch.
Family Rosaceae. It inhabits the tundra and forest zones and the montane forest belt of Europe and Western Siberia, the Caucasus, and Asia Minor. Common on forest edges, meadows, along river and stream banks, and on the margins of bogs. Occasionally extends into the tundra and mountain-tundra belt.
A perennial herbaceous plant 15-40 cm tall with thin stems that are strongly branched in the upper half. Stems well-leaved, leaves trifoliate. Flowers numerous, golden-yellow. Blooms in June-August. Medicinal plant, rhizomes are used.
