Family Rosaceae. Native range - Western and Central Himalayas.
Perennial herbaceous plant up to 30 cm tall. Flowers yellow. Blooms in June–July. In cultivation since 1829. Has a number of hybrid cultivars grouped under the name hybrid cinquefoil.
