Family Rosaceae. Description: the genus includes about 300 species, most of which are distributed in the Northern Hemisphere.

Annual, biennial and perennial rhizomatous, herbaceous plants, sometimes subshrubs with erect, creeping or ascending stems. Leaves are trifoliate, palmate or pinnate. Flowers are yellow, less often white, pink, purple, solitary or gathered in inflorescences. Fruit - an aggregate of achenes.

Perennial species are the most ornamental and most commonly cultivated: perennial species.

Location: light-loving, winter-hardy. Some species develop better in partial shade.

Soil: Potentillas are undemanding, but achieve better growth on loose, fertile soils with sufficient lime content.

Propagation: by division, by offsets, by cuttings and by seeds, whose sowing can be done at any time. Seedlings bloom in the second year.

POTENTILLA

Use: in group plantings, borders, mixed borders, on rock gardens.

Companions: especially combine well with low-growing veronicas and bellflowers.
