Shining pondweed
Potamogeton lucens
Family: pondweeds. This species prefers flowing water; it is more often encountered in rivers than in ponds.
It has large leaves up to 5 cm wide and 30 cm long. They are bright green, glossy, and slightly wavy at the margin. The whole plant is submerged in water, only the inflorescence during flowering rises above the water surface, where it is pollinated by wind.
