Populus berolinensis
Appearance: a broad, columnar or conical large tree 20-25 m high, 8-10 m wide; in old age an asymmetric, dome-shaped crown; a straight leading shoot; branches directed upward; growth rate initially 60-80 cm, later 30-50 cm per year.
Flowers: yellow-green catkins, before leaf emergence.
Leaves: elongate, pointed, ovate; they open early, at the end of April; yellow-green then green; whitish beneath; they do not change color in autumn, less often pale yellow.
Root system: superficial; when damaged forms suckers; invades pipes; tolerates temporary flooding.
Requirements: sun; tolerates high temperatures; prefers warmth; winter-hardy; tolerant of urban conditions.
Soils: fresh or moist; avoid waterlogging; grows on any substrates.
