Pogonatherium

Pogonatherum

Back to catalogue

Family: Poaceae. This is not a very tall grass, up to half a meter high, a densely growing cereal with arching stems.

Pogonatherium does not resemble a true reed; it is rather a close relative of sugar cane. This interesting plant has appeared on the market relatively recently. The plant prefers light, warmth, and humidity. A site for Pogonatherium should be chosen that is sunny. Winter temperature should not be below 18°C. Water generously, avoiding the soil drying out even during the period of relative winter dormancy.

The plant performs better with high air humidity and regular misting, but can adapt to ordinary indoor conditions. The plant is repotted annually in spring. Pogonatherium is propagated by dividing the root clump when repotting. Soil: clayey loam, humus, peat (2:1:1).
