Meadow bluegrass

Poa pratensis L.

Back to catalogue

Family Poaceae. The most commonly used species of bluegrass. It independently fills bare patches on lawns, thanks to creeping rhizomes that form a large number of offshoots around the parent plant. Leaves are linear, 2-4 mm wide, up to 35 cm long.

Seedlings appear 10-14 days after sowing. It grows slowly, especially in the year of sowing, and is fully formed in the second to third year.
