Family Lauraceae. Origin: Mexico, Central America.
Avocado grows in many tropical and subtropical regions (USA, Brazil, Africa, etc.). Yield: 150-200 kg of fruit per tree. Reaches a height of 18 m, heavily branched. Length of the oval leaves 10-20 cm. Small greenish flowers in clusters at the ends of twigs. The fruit, pear-shaped, oval, or spherical, 5-10 cm long, weighs 0.05-1.8 kg. Its skin is tough, dark green in color. The soft oily flesh has a delicate, slightly musty, somewhat nutty aroma and contains a lot of fat. A large seed is located in the center of the fruit.
