Family Hyacinthaceae. A species of garden origin, obtained in Japan.
Plant with oblong-ovate leaves up to 20 cm long and up to 13 cm wide, with entire margins, strongly wavy, and a white central area or with alternating white and green patches at the base. Petioles light-colored, grooved, with small wings. Flowers funnel-shaped to bell-shaped, light purple, up to 5 cm long. Blooms in July-August. Flower stalks up to 80 cm tall with several small leaves. Inflorescence loose. In cultivation since 1834
