Nuphar lutea

Back to catalogue
Family Nymphaeaceae. The plant is also known as the yellow water-lily, yellow kupava, nuphar, waterlet, water-lily, yellow vakhtovik, water burdock.

Yellow water-lily is distributed almost everywhere across Europe and Russia. Like other nuphars, it has submerged leaves located in the water column and leaves floating on the surface. The floating leaves of the yellow nuphar reach up to 40 cm in size and are green in color.

The submerged leaves are oval in shape. They are also green and reach a width of 20 cm. The nuphar blooms with beautiful bright yellow large flowers. It lives for about two years. It does well in poor substrate and without fertilization. In an aquarium it grows fairly quickly. Some barbs, characids and cichlids may add the yellow nuphar to their menu.
