Notocactus
Notocactus
Family Cactaceae. Native range - Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina.
Notocacti are, in modern classification, assigned to Parodia. Previously Notocacti were separated into a small distinct genus that included several species. Most of them are distinguished by flowering early and abundantly with large flowers.
Notocactus sun-loving - Notocactus apricus - a small globular stem, about 10 cm high and 10 cm in diameter, somewhat flattened, usually not branching. Many well-defined ribs - up to 18, with large curved spines (14-18). Flowers, compared with the size of the cactus, are enormous - up to 7.5 cm in diameter, yellow in color (correct name parodia concinna).
Notocactus leninghausii - Notocactus leninghausii - with a columnar tall stem (up to 1 m in height and 15 cm in diameter), numerous ribs (about 30-35) and long golden spines (central 3-4 and radial 15-20). Flowers in spring are lemon-yellow, about 6 cm in diameter (correct name parodia leninghausii).
