Family: the onion family. Occurs: On the hills of the upper subtropical belt of California (Sierra Nevada).

Leaves grooved, 0.2-0.3 cm wide. Stem thin, 10-20 cm tall. Pedicels 2-4 cm long. Flowers 2-9 in number, violet, 2-2.5 cm long; tube strongly constricted at the throat; segments much longer than it, widely spread and reflexed downward. Anthers almost sessile, 0.4 cm long. Staminodes white, toothed or notched at the tip. 2n = 12, 14.
