Family Poaceae. A grass with a wide distribution range - from the forests of the Carpathians to the Far East.

A tall (up to 150 cm) loose-clumping plant. Decorative with its wide (up to 2 cm) bright green leaves from April until the frosts, but especially during the flowering period (June). Fruiting occurs in mid-July, but is not abundant. Self-seeding is rare.
