Flowers for the garden

Small-flowered heuchera

Н. micrantha

Back to catalogue

Family: Bromeliads. Perhaps the most striking of all species of Heuchera - it grows on the Atlantic coast of North America.

It has a very beautiful leaf with gray-silver spots. In shape it is close to the leaf of a sharp-leaved maple. Winter leaves are almost round, while summer leaves are lobed. In nature, individual specimens of this heuchera with a purple tint to the foliage are found. By enhancing this trait, breeders have significantly improved the ornamental qualities of the plant, giving its leaves striking bright tones. The loose panicle inflorescence of the small-flowered heuchera, up to 60 cm tall, is strewn with numerous small cream-pink flowers with bright red-orange anthers. Flowering begins at the end of May and lasts for almost two months.

This small-flowered heuchera came into our gardens under the names 'Пэлас Пёпл' ('Palace Purple') and 'Брессингем Бронз' ('Bresslngham Bronze'), respectively with dark purple and bronze-brown foliage. In foreign literature, small-flowered heuchera is recommended for cultivation in warmer climatic zones
