Manettia
Family Rubiaceae.Native to South America. As a houseplant, Manettia inflata - Manettia inflata is commonly grown. It is a herbaceous liana with a soft stem that easily twines around supports.
Leaves green, opposite, on short petioles, broadly lanceolate or ovate in shape, tapering to the tip, about 4-5 cm long. Flowers solitary or in few-flowered corymb-like inflorescences. The corolla is tubular, about 2 cm long, bright red at the base, yellow toward the tip.
Temperature: Manettia prefers moderate temperatures - about 20-22°C in summer, 15-16°C in winter, minimum 12°C.
Light: Bright, diffused light with some direct sun in the morning or evening.
Watering: Abundant in spring and summer; the soil should be slightly damp. In winter watering is more moderate. Manettia does not tolerate the root ball drying out or excessive moisture. Use soft, warm water for watering.
Fertilizer: During the active growth period from March to August, every two weeks with a liquid fertilizer for flowering houseplants. Use half the dose recommended by the manufacturer.
