Family Rosaceae. Origin - Japan.
A species reaching 4 meters in height at maturity with an equally wide dense, rounded crown. Elongated graceful buds of carmine color, when opening, become light pink. The fruits are small, no more than 10 mm in diameter, yellow-red in color. In autumn the leaves turn yellow with a slight admixture of red. It may be damaged by severe frosts, but recovers quickly. Resistant to scab.
Long used in many countries as an ornamental plant. Suitable for group plantings as well as a solitary specimen. One of the most promising apple trees for landscaping.
