Remarkable apple tree

Family Rosaceae. Native to China.

Tree 8-9 m tall, with reddish-brown branches. Leaves broadly ovate, oval or oblong-ovate, pointed at the tip, glaucous green, with a broad cuneate base, finely serrate along the margin (8×4 cm). Flowers up to 5 cm in diameter, pale pink or light red (in buds — dark pink-red), grouped 5-8 in umbel-like inflorescences. Fruits almost spherical, up to 2.5 cm in diameter, red or yellow, with persistent sepals.
