Siebold's apple
Malus sieboldii
Family: Rosaceae. Native to Japan.
An early-flowering species with a beautiful pyramidal crown up to 5–6 m high and up to 3 m wide, with large glossy leaves. Buds are carmine-pink, flowers white. Fruits are small, spherical, no more than 10 mm in diameter, red. Thanks to its compact crown shape it can be used on small plots. It looks excellent in regular avenue plantings. As an ornamental plant it has long been used in East Asia and Europe. It has a good ability to regenerate.
