Fruit trees
Hybrid apple tree
Malus hybridus
Family Rosaceae. Description: Includes many hybrids based on Niedzwetzky's apple.
They are characterized by broad crowns reaching 6-7 m in height and 4-5 m in width. The leaves, flowers, buds and fruits of these apple trees contain anthocyanin, which determines their coloration of varying intensity. The apple trees are very ornamental in their bright violet-purple buds and during mass flowering. The fruits contain anthocyanin in the flesh and skin. The apple trees have good winter hardiness, but can be affected by scab.
However, the extent of the damage does not reach a level that makes the plant unsuitable for ornamental use, and the anthocyanin coloration of the plants effectively masks the fungal spores. The apple trees are suitable for all types of plantings.
