Apple Suncats (Malus domestica Suncats) – a new German-bred summer-ripening apple cultivar. It is a low, medium-growing tree, 2-3 m in height with a columnar crown. Annual growth 10-30 cm per year. Branches are short, arising from the trunk at almost a right angle.

Blooms in May with many small white flowers. The variety is self-sterile.

Fruits are above average to large, rounded. Ground color greenish-yellow, overcolor red, covering almost the entire fruit surface. Flesh of excellent sweet-and-sour taste, aromatic. Harvest maturity occurs in late August – early September. Apples do not keep long. Yield is high.

Best pollinators: Greencats, Redcats.

Hardiness zone 5b (down to -29°C).

Location: prefers sunny sites or light partial shade. Needs a pollinator.

Pruning: does not require pruning.

Diseases and pests: high resistance to scab, canker and powdery mildew.

Uses: fruits are eaten fresh and used in cooking. The tree is suitable for container growing.
