Family Rosaceae. Naturally occurs in the south and southeast of Eastern Siberia, in Manchuria and northern China.

Small tree 5-10 m tall, with a rounded, dense crown and smooth, thin shoots. Elliptic or ovate leaves up to 8 cm long, glossy, hairless, finely serrated along the margin, pointed at the apex. White, scentless flowers up to 3.5 cm in diameter. Fruits globular, very small, up to 1 cm in diameter, on a long pedicel, red or yellow, remaining on the tree for a long time.
